2008 BAMBUU CHAMPS:
FENWAY HUSTLERS

The Hustlers defeated the New Hampshire 603's, two games to one, in the championship series. The Hustlers are the first team ever to win back-to-back Bambuu titles, and have now won three of the last four.

Congratulations to everyone on a great season.

603's RALLY, TAKE GAME ONE

New Hampshire came from behind to defeat the Fenway Hustlers 9-7 in game 1 of the 2008 Bambuu Cup Championship Series.

New Hampshire 603's (3) vs. Fenway Hustlers (1)

The 603's were just one strike away from elimination in game 2 of the semi-finals against the Beantown Basers, but rallied to win the game, and then the series, 2 games to 1.

The Fenway Hustlers swept the Dorchester Dirtbagz 2 games to none.

SERIES PREVIEWS:

Dorchester Dirtbagz (4) vs. Fenway Hustlers (1)

Fenway swept the regular season series against Dorchester, 3 games to none. All three games took place before the Dirtbagz ripped off 10 straight wins to charge their way into the playoffs. The defending champion and top-seeded Hustlers will try to cool off perhaps the hottest team in the history of BAmBUu.

BASERS CLINCH PLAYOFF BERTH
Victory over Hustlers in final game caps 5-win streak

Billings Field, W. ROXBURY – Last year, the Beantown Basers couldn't protect a 3-run lead in the final inning of their final game, and fell short of the playoffs for the first time in franchise history. This season, the Basers again faced a must-win in their final regular season game, and this time they hung on and defeated the Fenway Hustlers, 11-7. The victory capped a 5 game winning streak and ensures a playoff spot for Beantown. Richie Phillips got the start for the Basers, holding the Hustlers to 3 earned runs in 4 innings, and reliever Dale Kochevar came out of the bullpen to nail down the win. Hustler ace Josh Bilbrey (8-5) took the loss despite fanning 10 and allowing just 3 earned runs.

FALL FROM GRACE
Basers finally win one against Saints

Fallon Field, ROSLINDALE – In their third matchup of the season, the Beantown Basers finally defeated the South End Saints with a convincing 19-3 win. Wildness from Saint starter Jose Lopez (8 walks) and a parade of Baser hits put the Saints in an early hole, and it only got worse from there. The Saints offense was unable to break through against starter Dale Kochevar, and by the time they did get on the scoreboard, it was already 13-0 in the sixth inning.

ESCAPE FROM NEW HAMPSHIRE
Basers survive seventh-inning comeback

Healy Field, ROSLINDALE - This time, the score was closer, but the result was the same. For the fifth time in their last six meetings, the Beantown Basers defeated the New Hampshire 603's, this time by a score of 7-5. The 603's rallied in the bottom of the seventh but left the tying run at second base. Both starters went the distance, with Johnny Greenwell (5-3) getting the win and Eric Tiner (2-1) taking the loss.

BAG JOB
Dirtbagz walk-off on Basers for
second straight game

Billings Field, W. ROXBURY – For the second straight game, the Dorchester Dirtbagz defeated the Beantown Basers on a walkoff hit in the bottom of the 7th inning. This time, it was a single to right field off the bat of J.P. Cotton, and gave the D-Bagz a 2-1 win. The victory is the fourth straight for the D-Bagz, who have now won the season series against the Basers, 2 games to 1. Good pitching from starters Dan Kenney and Dale Kochevar, combined with a wet and muddy field, resulted in the lowest-scoring game of the 2008 season (and perhaps, in BAmBUu history).

REMOLETE BAGZ BASERS
Dorchester walks off with win

ROSLINDALE, MA - The Dorchester Dirtbagz avenged an early season blowout loss in exciting fashion by defeating the Beantown Basers 6-5. Paul Malone improved to 1-2 and picked up his first win since 2006, when he was 5-0.
